Certificate of Location

Certificate of location

The certificate of location is a document containing a report and a plan in which a land surveyor expresses his professional opinion on the current situation and conditions of a land.

It gives a portrait of the situation of the land by comparing the titles, the cadastre and the occupation that is exercised on the ground.

It is important that this document is up to date for a real estate transaction, first for the seller; for a clear and accurate declaration of what is being sold, and also for the buyer; to inform him of what he is buying.

The certificate of location is ruled by the Regulation respecting the standard of practice relating to the certificate of location of the Quebec Order of Land Surveyors (RSQ, c. A-23, r.10).
